Monitoring a Boat with an ORB‑X1

APN0009  |  Revision 1.0  |  April 18, 2024

This application note describes how to configure an ORB‑X1 for comprehensive remote vessel monitoring. It covers installation of sensors for bilge level, battery voltage, and intrusion detection, and setup of GPS tracking for position monitoring. Alarm thresholds are configured through the Senquip Portal to send alerts via SMS or email if water ingress, battery drain, or movement occurs. The guide also discusses power supply design for boats—balancing alternator charging, shore power, and solar inputs to maintain continuous telemetry. Data visualisation examples illustrate how operators can track trips, voltage history, and bilge pump cycles. The end result is a reliable, low‑power system providing constant awareness of vessel status, enhancing safety and asset protection for both recreational and commercial boats.
