Connecting to a KPV200 Vibration Sensor

APN0037  |  Revision 1.0  |  January 8, 2025

This application note explains how to interface a KPV200 vibration sensor using Modbus RTU to detect early equipment faults. It maps registers for RMS/peak vibration, bearing temperature, and status flags, and shows how to scale raw values into mm/s or g. Example scripts implement polling intervals matched to machinery duty cycles, plus alarm bands for overall vibration and temperature. Optional logic accumulates run‑hours and counts threshold exceedances to support condition‑based maintenance. Installation practices—mounting location, cable screening, and isolation from structural resonance—are covered to improve signal quality. Finally, the note describes trending on the Portal, using batch uploads for high‑frequency snapshots, and adding notifications for persistent excursions. The result is a practical condition‑monitoring building block for pumps, fans, and conveyors.
