One of our very first customers used a Senquip ORB to detect movement in bridges. The application was solar powered and required a sensor that needed 5V power. The ORB can produce 12V at night by boosting the internal backup battery, but the customer had to use an external 12V to 5V converter which was frustrating.
When we designed the QUAD, we modified the internal booster to allow the generated voltage to be configurable between 5V and 25V. Customers can now provide power to almost any external sensor, even when power to the QUAD is lost.
As we look to updating the hardware on the ORB, we will incorporate this feature. Do you have any other ideas for new features that would assist in your application? Let us know.
